shape, patterns and colour

We had a lot of fun this afternoon!  We broke into 2 groups, while the design team worked on patterns and shapes the demolition crew dismantled the bikes.  From there we traced the bike shapes onto our wall, making patterns with the shapes, and then painted more shapes ...primary colours (almost...it's hard to resist a little bit of mixing).  The end product ... well see for yourself... FANTASTIC !

tuesday 22 may - creative kids - breaking it down

if you look hard enough a bike has so many interesting parts...so that is what we did, we looked and then we drew, and then we looked some more...and then we looked some more.

for the next 5 weeks our creative kids will be breaking down a couple of bicycles....literally.

the first part of today's class was a lesson in looking and drawing what we see, not what we think.

the second part of the lesson was about thinking. once our eyes had told us what we had, our minds were able to think about what the bike could become.

the kids used clay to sculpt their ideas:

over the next 5 weeks we are going to break the bike down, pull it apart and rebuild it into something it never was.

Good bye bike!
